Laws of interrogation course icon

Laws of Interrogation

This course will benefit both patrol officers and investigators and will focus primarily on United States Supreme Court and Illinois State case law. Techniques for interrogation will be analyzed within the context of various Amendment rights and supreme court cases. Additionally, interrogation techniques will be explained as they relate to report writing, testimony, and civil liability.

Civil Liability

This course will benefit police officers, investigators and supervisors. The primary focus of this course is on case law decided by the United States Supreme Court and the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. Officers will be encouraged to respond to various scenarios and factual situations utilizing the concepts from the cases being discussed. Officers will learn how to avoid being sued. Officers will learn how to avoid losing when they are sued. Summary judgment and qualified immunity will be explained within the context of defenses to Section 1983 actions.
